(WHITTIER, CA) — At least 10 Los Angeles sheriff’s recruits out for a run are clinging to life after they were struck by a vehicle early Wednesday morning, according KABC.

The California Highway Patrol says, the recruits were on a run on Mills Avenue when they were hit.

Several of the recruits are reported to be in critical condition.

It’s unclear if the driver of the vehicle was injured or if he or she remained on the scene.
