Sebring man’s doorbell came records lightning strike close-call

A Florida man, Rod Murphy survived a near lightning strike. He stepped outside his Sebring home and out of no where, lighting struck his neighbor’s front yard.

The impact was so powerful it sent chunks of the ground flying 20-feet into the air and the whole thing was caught on his doorbell camera.  He told FOX13, “I thought I was a goner.”
The Lightning Safety Council detected it came from a storm that was ten-miles away.
Fortunately no one was injured, and the home was not damaged but the lawn was singed where the bolt struck.
