SEBASTIAN, FL- 64 year old Michele Hoskins was arrested by Sebastian police on Thursday, over two months after the body of her 93 year old mother was found in a freezer at her home in the 100 block of Paddock Street.

Detectives say Hoskins confessed to finding her mother Marie Hoskins dead in her bedroom back in April and then buying a deep freezer to store her body in so she could continue collecting the woman’s disability benefits.

The scheme unraveled on April 28th when neighbors called police to conduct a welfare check at the home after having not seen Marie for some time.

Officers obtained a key from a family member and a search of the home led to them finding Marie’s body in a chest freezer in the garage.

Michele Hoskins is charged with failing to report a death and tampering with or destroying evidence.

She is being held in the Indian River county jail on $10,000 bond.

Investigators determined Marie Hoskins died of natural causes.
