Season’s first hurricane to form in the Atlantic today

(MIAMI, FLA) —  Tropical Storm Danielle is expected to become the first Atlantic hurricane of the season today.

The National Hurricane Center says Danielle is strengthening in the North Atlantic west of the Azores with maximum sustained winds of 70 miles per hour.

The storm is expected to gain strength as it moves west today, but Hurricane Danielle is not expected to make landfall.
