(NORTH PALM BEACH, FL) – Sea turtle nesting season runs annually March through October, and this year it was a success.
Florida Fish and Wildlife says that this nesting season has been fantastic for all three main sea turtle species who use our Florida beaches.
According to John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, this past season was an average nesting year for the leatherback sea turtle with 20 nests laid and an above average year for green sea turtles with 902 nests laid. The loggerhead sea turtles laid a total of 1,579 nests, which is above the yearly average of 1,200 nests.
