School shooting threat believed to be a hoax

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL– Law enforcement agencies across Florida say they are closely monitoring the activity at schools in their respective areas after receiving word of a school threat circulating on social media.
According to the report, the “vague threat” promised violence at an unnamed school in Florida.
Officials in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast have been investigating the threat and say that they believe it is a hoax.
Nevertheless, authorities in each county are on alert and are investigating the source of the threat.
The Okeechobee County School District posted a photo of the treat on their Facebook page, along with a message about the serious consequences of making threats:

Making a threat against a school in Florida is a second-degree felony and could result in jail time.
