All southbound lanes of the Florida turnpike have been closed near the Broward County and Palm Beach County line due to a fatal crash.

Florida Highway Patrol is reporting that the crash occurred near the mile maker 74 between Glades Rd and Sawgrass in Boca Raton.

Traffic is backed up for miles due to the crash.

Authorities are suggesting those traveling in the area to exit early at Atlantic Avenue or use I-95 to avoid the backup.
