What Is Red Tide? Red Tide is a higher than normal concentration of algae in inland and coastal salt waters. The toxins produced can be harmful to both marine life and humans and may cause massive die-offs of sea life and respiratory distress for vulnerable people. Bathers may experience skin irritation and burning eyes from swimming in affected waters.
