Publix will no longer provide free prescriptions for customers.
The grocery store giant announced the change earlier this week saying this is part of their evolution in service:
“We consistently evaluate our programs and services to ensure they are meeting the intended purpose and evolve over time,” the company said in a press release.
Publix first enacted the program in 2007 to provide certain preventive medications free to the public.
The retailer says that they noticed those medications are typically covered by insurance companies now.
Those who do not have an insurance plan can still receive the medications at $7.50 for supplies between 14 and 90 days.
