A mental health employee at a facility in Florida has been arrested after he allegedly forced himself onto a patient.

34-year-old Yadiel Perez Delgado was arrested on Monday after the incident that occurred around 10:30 a.m.

Hialeah Police say Perez Delgado works for Southern Winds Psychiatric Hospital initially entered a female patient’s room earlier in the morning and began making verbal sexual advances toward her. The patient says she ignored him and went to the bathroom. That’s when the patient says Perez Delgado followed her into the bathroom and raped her.

Another patient staying the the room reportedly walked in on the incident and that’s when Perez Delgado left.

The victim then told a female mental health technician that she had been raped.

When asked about the incident Perez Delgado said he did have a sexual encounter with the woman but that the encounter was consensual.

After an investigation involving security cameras, Perez Delgado was taken into custody.

He now faces sexual battery and false imprisonment charges and has since been fired from the establishment.
