Trump is the 23rd President to serve one term or less. However, he is only the fifth to not win a second term. The other four are William Howard Taft, Herbert Hoover, Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush.
Trump reportedly left President-elect Joe Biden a letter inside the Oval Office. The contents of the letter are not known but the notes are typically hand-written and encouraging. The tradition started in 1989 when Ronald Reagan left a letter for George H.W. Bush.
