REFUGIO COUNTY, TX- A pregnant woman and her unborn child have died after she ran over an alligator while traveling along a highway.
The incident was reported Sunday morning along State Highway 35 near San Antonio Bay.
Officials say after the woman struck the alligator, the vehicle flipped and rolled multiple times.
Paramedics attempted life saving methods at the hospital, however, both the mother and child did not survive.
The alligator was also said to have died in the crash.
Another adult and three children who were in the truck at the time of the crash are said to be “OK.”
The woman’s identity has not been released at this time.
