Port St. Lucie is switching waste management companies and trash is piling up

Port St. Lucie is switching its solid waste management companies from Waste Pro to FCC Environmental Services.

The process has been a long one, with residents of the area not seeing a single garbage truck for several weeks now.

Along with the gap in trash pick up, there will also be a rate increase and trash collection will be reduced to once a week.

In dissatisfaction over what residents are calling a trash crisis, city leaders are holding a virtual town hall meeting to address concerns.
