In a rare leak of a U.S. Supreme Court draft decision, Politico is reporting that the high court has voted to overturn abortion upending a 1973 ruling, Roe v Wade.

The Supreme Court has voted to strike down Roe v. Wade, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito and obtained by POLITICO.

The official decision on the Mississippi case could be wildly different from this leaked draft.  The decision process is still in full swing and could change down the road.

If the final decision does overturn Roe, the abortion rights issue would then be taken up by individual states.

Only a limited number of people would have access to this draft and legal scholars say its release chips away at the integrity of the court. The identity of the person who leaked the decision has not been revealed.
