RIVIERA BEACH, FL– A thief is now behind bars after authorities were able to track him using the iPad he stole.
The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office says that they received a call on Dec. 14 from Legacy Contracting Solutions about a theft at their facility on Garden road.
A supervisor told police that someone smashed the window on four of their company vehicles and stole several tools and an iPad.
Investigators were able to use the iPad’s software to track its location to a shed on West 12th Court.
When authorities went into the shed, they found the iPad and several other stolen items.
They were then able to connect 62-year-old Troy Lee Bellamy to the stolen property.
While being arrested, Bellamy reportedly told police “I knew that thing would track me.”
He is facing charges of four counts of burglary, grand theft, and criminal mischief.
