Police: Ten dead including police officer in second mass shooting in America this month

UPDATE: A gunman killed ten people, including a Bolder police officer Eric Talley, 51, who was first on the scene, Monday afternoon at a supermarket in Boulder, Colo., law-enforcement officials briefed on the investigation said.

A live television feed showed a man being led away from the scene, handcuffed, bloodied and partially naked. This individual is a person of interest in the shooting and is in custody as his injuries are treated, according to police.

One family member of a surviving witness says the shooter shot a customer in line at the pharmacy waiting for a COVID vaccine.

Multiple police agencies responded to the scene and eventually SWAT gained entry into the building from the roof and through the ceiling.

The shooter’s motive hasn’t been determined, one of the law-enforcement officials said.

Original story:

Police in Colorado are on the scene of a reported active shooter at a grocery store in south Boulder with several people down.

Dramatic live video posted on YouTube showed the frantic scene as police arrived en masse at the King Soopers supermarket — with at least two people seen on the ground and the sound shots heard in the background.

The Boulder police tweeted there is an “Active Shooter at the King Soopers on Table Mesa. AVOID THE AREA.”

CNN affiliate KMGH’s helicopter recorded a shirtless man being taken from the supermarket. The man has what appears to be blood on his arm and right leg and his hands appeared to be cuffed behind him as two officers escorted him away. The man was taken away in an ambulance.

It was unclear whether the man was involved in the reported active shooting inside the store.

Ambulances and multiple law enforcement agencies are currently outside the store.
The supermarket is part of a large shopping center with a two-story strip mall next door.
King Soopers is a supermarket brand of Kroger in the Rocky Mountain area of the United States.
