Los Angeles, California — Authorities in Los Angeles, California are investigating shootings that occurred at four separate 7- Eleven stores on Monday.
The shootings left two people dead and at least three others injured.
While the shootings occurred in Riverside, Santa Ana, Brea, and La Habra, investigators say they believe one person is responsible for at least three of the cases.
They also reported that the shootings occurred after robberies or attempted robberies.
The motive behind the shootings remains unclear and authorities say they are not sure if it has anything to do with the date being July 11th.
“I think the only person to answer that would be the suspect,” said Officer Ryan Railsback, a spokesperson for the Riverside Police Department, where the first shooting happened at about 1:50 a.m. “There’s no way it can be a coincidence of it being 7-Eleven, July 11.”
7-Eleven was celebrating its 95th birthday and treated customers to free Slurpee drinks all day.
They have since released a statement saying they are working with the police:
“Our hearts are with the victims and their loved ones,” 7-Eleven, Inc. said in a statement. “We are gathering information on this terrible tragedy and working with local law enforcement.”
