
Pembroke Pines police and the Broward Sheriff’s bomb squad were called to a home on Northwest 202nd Avenue Friday morning after several grenades were found inside a garage.
Residents in surrounding homes were temporarily evacuated while explosives disposal experts worked to secure the scene.
UPDATE: The home has been cleared. The grenades were legally owned by the previous homeowner (now deceased), and were discovered in the garage. All weapons have been safely removed. https://t.co/kRjteHWNPR

Police say the grenades were legally owned by the previous homeowner and that they have since been removed from the area.
The type of grenade that was found was not specified, however private ownership of military-style ‘fragmentation’ grenades, or grenades classified as ‘destructive devices’ are illegal own.
