
RUSKIN, FL– The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the death of a person found burning in a field in Ruskin.
The victim was discovered Saturday in the 1100 block of Will Scarlett Avenue, after a concerned citizen reported a mannequin burning in a field behind a residential area.
When authorities responded to the area and put out the fire, they discovered the mannequin was actually a burning body.
“At this time, our deputies are doing everything they can to determine what happened to this person. We do believe this is an isolated incident, and we will continue to work tirelessly until we determine how this horrific crime occurred,” Sheriff Chad Chronister.
The Sheriff’s Office has since released footage showing a person of interest and is hoping to identify him:
“Our detectives are working tirelessly to investigate every lead and piece of evidence, including this footage. I am immensely proud of their unwavering dedication to solving this heinous crime, ” said Sheriff Chronister. “However, we cannot do this alone. We are committed to bringing justice for the victim and their family, but we need the public’s assistance.”
