Officials in Kansas are investigating after a police officer’s puppy was beheaded in what they believe was a “targeted attack.”
The discovery was made at the officer’s home at 2:00 p.m. earlier this month.
Authorities say the Parsons police officer let the 3-month-old German shepherd named Ranger out into his yard around 7:00 a.m.
The officer says he checked on the puppy around 2:00 p.m. and found that he was laying in the yard and not moving.
When the officer got closer, he found that the puppy had been decapitated.
Investigators say whoever was responsible for the crime, shot the puppy in the head before cutting off the puppy’s head.
They also believe the puppy was taken from the yard, killed, and then brought back to the property.
The Parsons Police Department is offering a $4,000 reward, courtesy of donations from residents, for information regarding this incident.
