A Jamaican police officer has been charged with using her body to smuggle cocaine to South Florida.
The discovery was made on February 3rd at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Authorities say 42-year-old Shelian Cherine Allen underwent an inspection by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection after arriving in the Florida from Montego Bay.
During that inspection, authorities found a package of cocaine inside her bra. Upon further inspection, authorities then found a package in her vagina and 90 pellets of packaged cocaine inside her stomach.
Authorities then took Allen to an area hospital where she expelled the 90 pellets.
Allen, who is employed by the Jamaica Constabulary Force, was said to have housed approximately 1,350 grams of cocaine on or in her body.
She has been indicted on two counts: importation of 500 grams or more of cocaine and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.
If found guilty, she faces up to 40 years behind bars for each count.
