Police identify person of interest in murder of a couple in a Florida senior living community

MOUNT DORA, FL– The Mount Dora Police Department is reporting that they have a person of interest in custody for the murders of an elderly couple who were living in a retirement community.
80-year-old Sharon Getman and her husband 83-year-old Darryl Getman were found dead at their home in the Waterman Village on Dec. 31st after a concerned neighbor noticed their garage door open and called security.
When security responded to the home, they found the couple dead inside.
The Sherriff’s department says that a woman was taken into custody in another state after she was found driving the couple’s vehicle.
The suspect has not publicly been identified, but authorities say the same woman was seen inside the retirement community on several occasions leading up to the day of the couple’s deaths.
Authorities also reported that the woman was escorted off of the property by security officials on at least one of those occasions.
The suspect remains in custody in another state on car theft charges.

The homicide investigation remains active.
