Police find body of dead pregnant woman inside apartment of gas station shooting suspect

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD- Investigators in White Oak are reporting that while investigating a suspect for the shooting death of a gas station store clerk, they discovered the body of a pregnant woman inside of his apartment.
Montgomery County Chief of Police Marcus Jones reported the situation in a press conference over the weekend.
31-year-old Torrey Moore was taken into custody for the shooting death of 61-year-old Ayalew Wondimu at the Shell gas station in the 11100 block of New Hampshire Ave Thursday.
Authorities say Moore got into an altercation with Wondimu that soon became physical.
As the situation escalated, Moore pulled out a gun and shot Wondimu several times before fleeing the scene.
Investigators later discovered that Moore lived in the apartments across the street from the gas station and got a search warrant for his home.
While searching Moore’s apartment for evidence in the shooting death of Wondimu, authorities discovered the body of a deceased pregnant woman in the early stages of decomposition:
“He told detectives he was in a relationship with the female, who was pregnant – the female who was found inside of the apartment – and that there had been some type of fight between the two about one month prior that led to the victim becoming deceased,” Jones said.
Authorities say the woman appeared to be eight months pregnant at the time of her death.
Moore was also discovered in the apartment and was taken into custody.
He has been charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm while committing a felony for the clerk’s death.
The woman’s body has been taken to the medical examiner’s office to confirm her identity and determine her manner of death “to determine appropriate charges” in her case.
