Authorities say Tuesday night’s shooting, which left five people injured at a private park in a Lantana community, was a targeted act.
The incident “was not a random act,” the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “The shooting was between two different groups of individuals known to each other.”
PBSO would not say whether it believes the incident is gang-related.
Since some of the victims arrived at area hospitals on their own, investigators are still trying to determine who shot at who.
The gunfire began about 8 p.m., as a car drove past a park in the Concept Homes community at Lantana Road and Edgecliff Avenue, just south of Greenacres.
It is believed that the suspect shot at the group while driving by. Deputies have a perimeter set up and are currently searching the surrounding area. The motive of this shooting is unknown. If you have any information please contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.

Four of the five victims were treated as trauma patients, according to Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue.
Everyone who was hurt is expected to survive, PBSO added.
The agency has not provided information on the extent of injuries or named any of the people involved.
Deputies set up a perimeter Tuesday night and searched for any gunmen. The agency reported no arrests as of Wednesday, saying only that “this investigation is still very active and ongoing.”
