PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — If you’ve received a traffic citation and failed to pay it over the past 12 months, you are getting a reprieve just for this week.
Nearly a half million delinquent traffic violation fines in Palm Beach County were sent to collections in the last 12 months.
As a result, late fees added up the longer they when tickets go unpaid.
Fortunately for those who owe money, but the Palm Beach County Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller wants to help.
For this week only, the county is waiving all collection agency fees to help drivers with unpaid traffic tickets and overdue court fines get back on the road.
According to the spokesperson for the county clerk’s office, residents can save up to 40% on overdue tickets with “Operation Green Light.”
On the first day of the program, more than 400 people took advantage of the forgiveness and saved a collective total of $29,812.81.
Payments can until Friday online at mypalmbeachclerk.com.
