If a student displays COVID-19 symptoms, the Palm Beach County School Board says that student and any of their siblings must be sent home.
The new school district rule is designed to combat rising COVID-19 cases.
The district policy states the following:
Any other students attending face-to-face instruction in any District-operated school that resides in the same home as the student exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms will be sent home with the parent/guardian and assigned to Distance Learning.”
District officials say that this is not a new policy, they’ve been sending home siblings of sick students for weeks. However, it became an official policy at a meeting on Wednesday.
