Patient jumps out of moving ambulance, dies on turnpike in Miami

Emergency

(MIAMI, FLA) — A patient suffering mental issues is dead after jumping from a moving ambulance while on the Florida Turnpike.

According to FHP, 32-year-old Rolando Sagaro was being transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami from a Kendall hospital early Saturday when he became uncooperative and abusive toward paramedics. He then opened the ambulance door and jumped out while it was moving at over 50 mph. He died at the scene from blunt force head trauma.

Sagaro had been Baker Acted, meaning he was being held in a mental institution for 72-hours for his own safety, according to investigators.

The incident caused a huge traffic back up early Saturday morning, but now roads are clear.
