Ready or not, Hurricane season is upon us here in Florida and the National Hurricane Center is predicting between 10 and 15 named storms, 5 to 9 Hurricanes, and 1 to 4 major hurricanes. Whatever comes our way this season, we at 850 WFTL want you to be prepared. Join us on Facebook live June 8th as we sit down with various community and safety experts to discuss what is being done now to prepare for the season and what precautions you can take to make sure you and your loved ones are safe. Panel Guests:

Jeff Berardelli joined CBS12 in September 2013 as Weather Expert for the StormTrac Weather Team. He can be seen weekdays during the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. news. In addition, for the past 10 years, Jeff has contributed to CBS News as a weather expert for The CBS Evening News and CBS This Morning. Prior to joining CBS12, Jeff worked as a meteorologist for CBS in Miami from 2007-2013. He was also the adjunct professor of meteorology at the University of Miami.

Scott Biederman is a state licensed roofing contractor who has been roofing for most of his life. He is a native Floridian; born and raised in Fort Lauderdale and understands our weather conditions like none other.  Scott and his company SCI Roofing were also featured on the cover of  ROOFINGCONTRACTOR MAGAZINE. If the was not enough, Scott is also a member of the following groups: NRCA (National Roofing Contractors Association), SPFA (Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance), BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association), and BBB.

Fire Chief Diana J. Matty has spent 22 years in fire service with West Palm Beach Fire Rescue. She also has a BS in Fire and Emergency Services and a Graduate Certificate in Emergency Management from University. of Florida. Chief was the city’s Emergency Manager from 2015-2017 before being promoted to Fire Chief. she is also a HazMat instructor and Member of FEMA’s Urban Search and Rescue Florida Task Force 2. Most of all she is a lifelong Floridian raised in the Florida Keys.

Bill Orlove is the Lead Communication Specialist/Spokesperson Marketing and Communication for Florida Power & Light.
