WEST PALM BEACH- Gas prices in Florida have been heading downwards with the latest price for a gallon of regular costing $4.41 on average.
In Palm Beach county, the average price is $4.63, down from last week’s $4.73, but is still the most expensive in the state.
Martin and St. Lucie counties sit at $4.52 and $4.41 per gallon respectively, while overall, statewide gas prices are down .47 cents from last month.
The reason for the drop is not necessarily positive according to AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins.
Jenkins says the lower prices are attributed to a decline in gasoline futures over the last few weeks with concerns over a possible global recession weighing on investors.
He says Florida prices may get as low as $4.30 per gallon by the end of the week.
