Palm Beach County Superintendent Mike Burke announced Wednesday that he plans to bring back the mask opt-out option in a few weeks.
Burke made the announcement at the beginning of Wednesday’s school board meeting.
He said the cases in the county have dropped considerably, and the county’s positivity rate is now 3%.
Burke said he expects those numbers to continue to drop, and if they do, he wants to bring back the opt-out in two weeks.
He also made it clear that if the numbers spike, he will remove the opt-out again.
The opt-out is set to return on Monday, Nov. 15.
Parents who attended Wednesday’s school board meeting said they want the opt-out option implemented immediately.
