Palm Beach County School Board votes to follow new COVID quarantine student guidelines

Palm Beach County School District voted to comply with Florida’s new COVID quarantine student guidelines. Under the new rule issued by Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo, a parent or guardian has the choice on whether or not to quarantine, as long as the child isn’t showing any symptoms saying if someone is exposed to COVID, he or she could potentially infect others.

Last night, the school board voted in favor of allowing parents to make the decision about their own children who are exposed to COVID allowing them to stay in school and not be quarantined as long as they are asymptomatic. However, one board member, Dr. Deborah Robinson, is opposed to the new guidelines.

Meanwhile, the mask tug-of-war continues in Palm Beach County schools. Governor Ron DeSantis has mandated that parents should be able to decide if their child needs to wear a mask all day in school. The school board continues to defy the mandate.

The legal battle over the school mask mandate continues.
