PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL– A 62-year-old Palm Beach County man has been sentenced to 25 years behind bars after he shot a deputy who was serving a warrant at his residence.
Thomas Robarge pleaded guilty to three counts of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm of a law enforcement officer, and received his sentencing on Tuesday.
According to the report, Robarge was wanted for allegedly vandalizing and causing damage to vehicles in his neighborhood in July 2021.
After an investigation, a deputy went to serve a warrant at Robarge’s home in the Indian Springs Country Club Community near Boynton Beach.
When the deputy arrived, he was met at the door by Robarge’s brother, and informed him of why he was there.
The deputy was allowed to step into the home, and that’s when Robarge opened fire on the deputy from a darkened room.
Robarge’s brother surrendered without incident, however, Robarge remained barricaded in the room.
The deputy was rushed to an area hospital where he had to undergo surgery.
The PBSO SWAT team responded to the scene and deployed several rounds of gas into the house.
Robarge eventually came out of the house and was arrested without incident.
