West Palm Beach, FL– A 60-year-old woman has died and a 65-year-old man suffered serious after the couple stepped into the roadway while trying to avoid getting sprayed by sprinklers.
The incident occurred around 6:05 a.m. Monday on Village Boulevard.
West Palm Beach Police say a Kia Sportage was traveling southbound on the roadway when both the man and the woman walked off of the sidewalk and directly into the vehicle’s path.
The male, identified as Michael Bullen, was taken to St. Mary’s trauma center with serious injuries. The woman, identified as Carmen Louis, was said to have died at the scene.
No charges are pending at this time. Authorities also reported that alcohol or drugs did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
