
PORTLAND, OR–
One person is dead and two others are injured after a brick column fell on a group of students on a college campus.
The incident occurred at the Lewis & Clark College at 8:15 p.m. on Monday.
According to the report, six students were sitting in three hammocks that were attached to a free-standing brick structure in the center of the college campus when it fell.
A 19-year-old male student has died from his injuries.
Two 18-year-old female students were also injured.
One of the students suffered an arm injury, while the other suffered an abdominal injury.
The college has since released a statement saying they are devasted by the situation:
“We are deeply saddened by the shocking loss of a member of our community,” the statement said.
