A police officer in Georgia was reportedly sexually assaulted by a gas station employee while she was on-duty and in uniform.

The incident occurred on May 11 at the Hop In service station along state Highway 54.

Officials with the Hogansville Police Department say that the officer was conducting a business check when the manager identified as Prilesh Navinchandra Thakkar grabbed her and pulled her behind the counter.

Thakkar who is described as being 300- pounds then “attempted to forcefully commit an indecent act on an on duty female police officer,” but the officer was able to free herself and reported the incident, according to WAGA.

Thakkar was arrested and has since been booked into the Troup County Jail on sexual battery and obstruction charges.

Officials believe this incident was not the first time Thakkar has done something like this.

“To have attempted this act on a uniformed police officer … there may be other victims of similar attacks,” police said.

Authorities are urging any victims to come forward so that their claim can be investigated and Thakkar can be properly charged.

If you believe you are a victim, contact detective Marcus Rakestraw with the Hogansville Police Department at 706-637-6648.
