An Oklahoma man is now behind bars after he impregnated a 12-year-old.

The incident was reported on July 14th at the Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa.

Doctors reported that  24-year-old Juan Miranda-Jara and the child walked into the hospital expecting to deliver the child.

“They walked in just like any other couple would, excited to deliver their newborn child,” Tulsa Police Officer Danny Bean told FOX23.

Once doctors assessed the situation, they noticed that the mother was only 12-year-old and contacted authorities.

Officials spoke to Miranda-Jara, who seemed not to fully understand the situation.

Authorities say they are now investigating how the “couple” were able to carry this pregnancy to full term without anyone alerting the police to the situation.

Miranda-Jara has been arrested on first-degree rape charges and is being held on a $50,000 bond.

His first court date is set for August 26.
