(WEST PALM BEACH, FL) — A Palm Beach Sheriff’s Deputy was shot Monday afternoon while serving a search warrant in the area of Haverhill Road and 45th Street.

PBSO was assisting West Palm Beach PD at the time of the shooting.

At around 2:30 PM officers moved in on the home in the 5400 block of Eadie Place when one of them was attacked by a pit-bull dog inside the property.

A deputy fired a shot at the animal, hitting another deputy as the bullet passed through the dog.

The wounded deputy was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police had been surveilling the home in connection with an early morning carjacking but there is no word on if anyone there was taken into custody in the matter.

This is a developing story.
