(BOYNTON BEACH, FLA) — The city of Boynton Beach mourn the loss of police officer Dennis Castro, who passed in a deadly single-car crash Saturday morning.
Boynton Beach Police say Officer Castro, 38, sustained severe injuries that later took his life after being involved in a single vehicle car accident.

Officer Castro, who served for 14 years with the Boynton Beach Police Department, led a triumphant career as a former United States Marine, a member of the SWAT Team, DUI Task Force, and a Traffic Homicide Investigator.
Castro was voted Officer of the year in 2021 by the Palm Beach County Commission’s Victim Services and Certified Rape Crisis Center, and was honored various times as Officer of the Month by the Boynton Beach Police Department.
“Officer Castro’s service and commitment to the Boynton Beach Police Department and to the community we serve was remarkable,” Chief Joe DeGiulio said in a statement. “The entire Boynton Beach Police Department is honored to have served alongside Officer Castro, who was a friend and hero to all.”
Castro is survived by his wife and two children.
