(NEW YORK) — An alleged serial burglar was arrested after docking in the living room of Robert De Niro’s upper east side townhouse Monday morning attempting to smuggle his Christmas presents from under the tree.
Shanice Aviles, 30, was arrested on burglary charges after deputies spotted her breaking and entering De Niro’s rented townhouse at 2:45 a.m., located on East 65th Street in Manhattan, according to authorities.
Officers followed Aviles, who is notably one of NYPD’s “most prolific recidivist burglars,” after spotting her attempting to break into several townhouse doors, when she then turned a corner and pranced towards De Niro’s house.
Upon seeing the opened, officers entered the home to discover Aviles snatching presents from under the Christmas tree and tossing them into a bag.
Police say there was no altercation or interaction amongst the crook and the ‘Taxi Driver’ and ‘Godfather’ star.
Aviles’ criminal record of 26 arrests include 16 for burglaries and petit larcenies, according to sources.
