Numerous retail stores plan to close on Thanksgiving, reopen for Black Friday

(850 WFTL) – In previous years, retail stores would open Thanksgiving Day in order to let some shoppers get a head start on their Black Friday shopping. This year many major U.S. retailers are planning to close for Thanksgiving.

Target, Best Buy, and Walmart are no longer opening on Thanksgiving.

Other stores that will also remain closed on Thanksgiving day:

  • Aldi
  • Home Depot
  • Kohl’s
  • JCPenney
  • Bed Bath & Beyond
  • Lowe’s
  • Macy’s
  • Sam’s Club
  • Costco
  • Publix
  • BJ’s
  • T.J. Maxx
  • Marshalls
  • HomeGoods

Stores that will remain open include (some may have limited hours):

  • Big Lots
  • CVS
  • Dollar General
  • Kroger stores
  • Whole Foods
  • Sprouts Farmer Market
  • Bass Pro Shops
  • The Fresh Market
  • Walgreens

 

All stores will reopen on Black Friday. Store hours vary, but many retailers are opening early or staying open later to accommodate shoppers. Check with your local stores.
