The once lavish Trump Plaza Casino Hotel on Atlantic City New Jersey’s boardwalk that opened in 1984 will be demolished today at 9:00 a.m.
The structure was Donald Trump’s first of several casino ventures in the beachfront resort. Atlantic City visitors like Brenda Phillips remember the Plaza’s heyday, “It was beautiful, it was impactful, it was state of the art, it was state of the art, but time just took it’s toll on it.”
Atlantic City mayor Marty Small says the implosion is nothing personal or political. “This is not about Donald Trump. This is not about politics. The casino closed seven years ago and fell into disrepair making it’s demolition necessary.”
