NEW YORK- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts a busy 2022 Atlantic hurricane season.
Forecasters now predict between 14 and 21 named storms will develop in the Atlantic Basin this year, with between 6 and 10 becoming hurricanes and 3 to 6 of those being major storms.
In 2021, there were 21 named storms with 7 hurricanes, which was less than 2020 which saw 30 storms and 14 hurricanes.
Hurricane Ida, which formed in the Caribbean in August of last year, slammed into the Louisiana Gulf Coast as a Category 4 storm and causing the deaths of 107 people and $75 billion in damages.
