According to the Associated Press NFL teams will not be able to cut players from their teams if they decide not to get the COVID-19 vaccination.
The controversial idea was brought by Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane who hypothetically suggested that he would be willing cut members who did not get the vaccination if it would mean that team operations flow more freely.
AP spoke with league personnel under the condition of anonymity who reported that, while the NFL currently is formulating plans and protocols for the offseason and training camps, there has been no directive that would allow teams to release players based on their vaccination status:
“A team may not release a player solely due to vaccination status,” the person said.
At this point, both the NFL and the NFL Players Association is only suggesting players get vaccinated.
