Naomi Osaka withdrew from Wimbledon but will be ready for Tokyo Olympics

Naomi Osaka, 23-year-old who was born in Japan is ranked No. 2 in the women’s tennis will sit out Wimbledon and compete at the Tokyo Olympics.

Osaka withdrew from the French Open after the first round, saying she needed a mental health break.

Stuart Duguid wrote on Thursday in an email that Osaka “is taking some personal time with friends and family.

Osaka said she will be ready for the Olympics and is excited to reunite with her home fans.

She is a four-time Grand Slam singles champion at the US Open and the Australian Open.

The Grand Slam title holder beat Jennifer Brady in the Australian Open in February, securing her position atop pro women’s tennis in 2021.
