(MEDLEY, FL)– A 45-year-old Hialeah man has been arrested after he allegedly used a machete to attack a woman because she did not have a crackpipe.
The incident occurred on Tuesday near Northwest 74th Street and South River Drive.
Authorities say the victim was riding her bicycle when Roberto Hercules who was only wearing a cowboy hat, stopped her and asked her if she had a crackpipe.
When the victim told Hercules that she did not have one, he began striking her with a machete.
The woman jumped off of her bike and ran from Hercules as he continued to hit her.
Eventually, Hercules ran off.
The woman was said to have suffered extensive injuries, including a fractured skull, a broken arm, and a large laceration on her left hand.
She remains in the hospital in stable condition.
Authorities located Hercules sleeping in a tent next to a group of businesses on West 10th Court in Hialeah on Friday.
He has since been taken into custody. He is facing charges of attempted murder, attempted armed robbery, and aggravated battery with a weapon.
