(WEST PALM BEACH, FL)–  A murder suspect is now in custody after fleeing to another county during a police chase.

Authorities say 40-year-old Reginald Davilman was wanted in connection to the fatal shooting of a 39-year-old man in the  600 block of 54th Street on Monday.

According to the report, Davilman was seen on surveillance getting into a grey or silver Nissan Altima and leaving the area just after the shooting.

Authorities located the vehicle a short time later near the 700 block of 58th Street and conducted a traffic stop.

Davilman fled from the vehicle and ran into the neighboring city of Riviera Beach.

He then jumped into a woman’s vehicle but after a few minutes, jumped out and broke into a nearby apartment:

“The operator of this vehicle stated the suspect asked her to drive away because the police were chasing him,” Detective Darrin MacCarthy wrote in the report. “When she refused, he exited and forced his way” inside a nearby apartment “in an attempt to avoid being taken into custody.”

Authorities say Davilman eventually tried to flee the apartment by jumping out of a window.

He was then taken into custody by police.

A witness to the shooting was able to identify him in a photographic lineup.

Davilman is now facing charges of first-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
