A 22-year-old suspect in connection with the stabbing death of a 42-year-old Hemp store employee is now in custody after his mother turned him in.
Charles Michael Haywood was turned over to police on Aug. 25th for the murder of Margaret Bracey.
Authorities say Bracey was found dead at the Exotic Hemp Company on Aug. 24th.
Officials obtained survillence video of Haywood inside of the store around 6:30 p.m. just before Bracey was found dead.
Haywood allegedly attacked Bracey with a “sharp cutting tool” and put cash and merchandise into his backpack.
He then removed his sweatpants and bandana and left them in the store.
Haywood’s mother says he came home that night with a cut on his hand, so she took him to a hospital for treatment.
The next day his mother saw her son’s face on the news in connection with a murder.
Haywood is charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery.
