A child is safe and at home after his quick thinking mother yanked him through a car window after a suspect attempted to kidnap him.
The incident occurred in Queens, New York Thursday night.
Officials say the boy and his mother were walking down the street in a group when the child started walking a little ahead of them.
A male suspect then got out of his car that was parked near a curb, grabbed the child, and then threw him in the backseat.
The child’s mother and the group quickly ran to the vehicle and attempted to open the door, however, the door was locked. The child then managed to roll down the backseat window and that’s when the mom quickly yanked the child through before the suspect drove off.
Authorities were able to track down the suspect on Friday night and identified as 24-year-old James McGonagle.
He is now facing attempted kidnapping, reckless endangerment and acting in a manner injurious to a child younger than 17 charges.
Authorities also reported that there was another passenger in the vehicle at the time of the kidnapping. That passenger has not been arrested.
