PALM BEACH, FL– The mother of the newborn who was found floating in the Boynton Beach Inlet in 2018 has plead guilty to aggravated manslaughter of a child and abuse of a dead human body in connection with the child’s death.
Arya Singh plead guilty to the charges on Wednesday after pleading not guilty to first-degree murder earlier this year.
The infant nicknamed “Baby June” was found floating in the inlet on June 1st by an off-duty firefighter.
After a four year investigation, authorities were able to identify Singh as the infants mother.
When authorities spoke to Singh, she told them that she did not know she was pregnant and gave birth to a stillborn over a toilet in a hotel room.
The child’s father, however, told investigators that they knew about the baby and he believed Singh had taken care of it through an abortion.
Authorities also found that Singh looked up the location where the child was eventually dumped more than 500 times in May before eventually dumping it there.
Singh has been sentenced to 14 years behind bars with 10 years of probation.
