A 41-year-old woman is facing several charges after her 8-year-old son passed away due to injuries he received after she assaulted him.

The child identified as Oliver Hitchcock, past away on April first after the March 30th incident.

Officials say they were called to the family’s home around 5 p.m. after the child’s father discovered the boy unresponsive.

Authorities say the father “started life-saving measures on the child,” as first responders arrived to transport the child to Sheboygan hospital.

He was then transported to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

Hitchcock’s mother who was not identified,  was transported to another hospital for treatment on “self-inflicted injuries. ” She was then released and taken to the Sheboygan County Jail.

The mother faces preliminary charges of first-degree intentional homicide and attempted intentional homicide. If charges are brought against her, authorities reported that her name will then be released to the public.

Authorities also reported that there was another child in the home when the incident occurred and that the child’s father is not considered a suspect.
